Big News - JHS on nationally-syndicated TV show

I've been dreaming big this year, and I'm absolutely tickled pink to announce that our handcrafted hand painted silk scarves will be on the nationally-syndicated television program The Wendy Williams Show!! 

Joy Hand Painted Silk scarves will be part of a special segment of a nationally syndicated television talk show in February! The program is partnering with GBK Productions and The Artisan Group to do a big Oscars Swag Bag Giveaway on the program right before the Oscars.

I am bubbling with pleasure to be in the spotlight on In Her Shoes Blog this week! Joy started out painting silk 20 years ago as a hobby. In 2002, she launched the Natura line. After attending the American Craft Retail Expo in 2009  in Las Vegas 2009 “the business really began to take off”.  During February 2012, Joy Hand Painted Silk's Spring Romance Collection is featured at circa. Urban Artisan Living,  an award winning lifestyle boutique in the Historic Fondren District in Jackson, Mississippi. She designed this vintage style featuring antique ribbon, lace and silk flowers to echo the season's fashionable wedding trends of feminine headbands in lieu of veils.
Joy Hand Painted Silk supports several charities; “We do what we can when we can.” Some of her favorite local charities are KS Wild, the Klamath Siskiyou Wildlands Center, and SOU Women's Center's annual V-Day productions. This month, Joy is mentoring three young women from the Jackson County Children's Advocacy Center. Joy actively funds micro-loans in Africa through KIVA.org.  All of the pink hand painted silks at Joyflower.etsy.com are earmarked for a percentage donation to www.cancer.org for breast cancer research.

The Earth is a Gift

To that end, Joy Hand Painted Silk is very pleased to raise awareness of low-impact eco-couture manufacturing in this years Earth Day event! Joy Hand Painted Silk is an artisan accessories design shop in Ashland, Oregon, producing limited edition fashion accessories by hand (as opposed to commercial manufacturing processes). Joy Hand Painted Silk is proud to contribute in small yet meaningful ways to a greener planet. Women and the Green Economy (WAGE) launched at the UNFCCC 16th Conference of the Parties in Cancun, Mexico in December, 2010, the WAGE® Campaign is actively creating a road map for women to aggregate their power and promote their leadership in creating a sustainable green economy and mitigating climate change. Earth Day Network created WAGE® in view of the following facts:

• Women constitute more than half of the world’s population
• Women make 85 percent of all consumer choices
• Women are rising to key positions of power
• Women can lead the way to a sustainable green economy

The Waiting Game

We are still waiting to hear back from Ginnifer Goodwin about the hand painted shawl I made for and sent to her along with a group of artisans via The Artisan Group.

Apparently the parcel has been received by her agent's office in West Hollywood, California.

But the word is she's out of pocket until further notice. I believe she's filming Once Upon a Time in Canada and otherwise having a bit of fun for the holidays!

Big Love

I'm a little Twitter-pated, I'm having one of those moments that I've only dreamed of up until now. I have a grand opportunity to get one of my hand painted silks into the hands of a Hollywood celebrity! I come by this stroke of good fortune by belonging to The Artisan Group, an exclusive close-knit community of talented artisans, who collectively provide a lovely sampling of handcrafted products to celebrities and members of the press at major award show luxury gift lounges leading up to The Academy Awards, The Golden Globes, and The Primetime Emmys. At this time I have been chosen in a lottery to present to Ginnifer Goodwin. 


I did some research to check her out, to see what she looks like and what she's about. I actually had a personal communication with her via Twitter a few days ago when she was on set filming a new episode of Once Upon a Time. When I asked her what her favorite color is, she tweeted back that she likes purple, but doesn't wear it, her next twitter clued me in to the fact that her favorite accessory color is red! You may be familiar with her since she's had more than 18 roles beginning with her debut as Erica in 2001 on Law and Order. Most notable is perhaps her 53 episodes as Margene in Big Love. Interestingly enough she's recently appeared on Sponge Bob Square Pants as the Teenage Mermaid and she's currently starring with Jennifer Morrison in ABC's new fantasy adventure series Once Upon a Time, a modern-day take on Snow White.

Ginny seems to be a spirited, talented and lovely young lady, I hope she will like her custom-made art to wear shawl. The plan is to deliver the artisan gifts to her in the very near future, at the beginning of December.
